Percentage of Graduates in National Exam (Ujian Nasional/UN) in 2008/2009 Has Increased

Percentage of UN Graduates in academic year 2008/2009 is is 94.82, a 2.06 percent higher than that of academic year 2008 (92.76).

"The average score of national examination for JSS/MTs has increased by 0.46. In 2008 the average score was 6.87, whereas in 2009 it is 7.33," said by chairperson of Board for Education National Standard (BSNP) Mungin Eddy Wibowo, when he held press conference in Information and Media Outlet, MoNE, Jakarta, Mon (22nd June, 2009) .

Mungin mentioned, percentage of graduates at Senior Secondary School level in 2009 is 93.74, a 2,42 point percentage higher than that of 2008 (91,32) . "The average score in National Examination Result for Senior Secondary School has increased by 0.04 from 7.21 2008 to 7.25 in 2009," he told.



Meanwhile the percentage of graduates at Vocational SS level in 2009 has reached 93.85, an incrrease by 1.27 compared to that of 2008 (92.58). Mungin mentioned, average score resulting from National Exam for VSS has increased by 0.34 from 7.10 in 2008 to 7.44 in 2009.

Mungin told, from year to year, there is found an ever increasing result in National Examination, although graduation standard score has been raised up. According to him, success indicator depends on various factors including learning motivation and growing number of student. "it also includes support from parent and teacher. Of course, we will try in such way so that it enables the students to attain a successful achievement very well in facing National Examination," he said.

Mungin added, at public SSS level, graduation rate is 91.36 , whereas at private it is 95.1. Accordingly at public JSS, graduation rate is 94.66 , whereas at private JSS it is 95.32 . "Hence, graduation rate is to be paid attention why private is higher than public," he said. Mungin pointed out, Board for Education National Standard has conducted National Exam for SSS and VSS on 20th - 24th ,April, 2009, and National Exam for JSS on 27th – 30th April, 2009. He mentioned, total number participant of National Examination for SSS was 1517013 students, whereas participant in National Examination for VSS was706832 students. Accordingly, total number of participant in National Examination for JSS was 3437117 students.

Coordinating organizer of National Exam, Djemari Mardapi added, increase in National Exam has taken place due to in-class learning betterment. Besides, the socialization was carried out earlier. "The lattice works have been sent to the regions. So that, it can be developed by each local teacher," he said.

Furtherly, Djemari said, fellow-teachers should help each other in improving towards better learning. "The good teachers go on a safari to worse teachers," he said.

The subjects under Natural Science Program tested for SSS consisted of six subjects covering Indonesian language, English language, Mathematics, Chemicals, Physics, and Biology. Subjects tested in the Social Sciences Program for SSS cover Indonesian Language, English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Sociology, and Geography. Subjects tested under Language Program for SSS cover Indonesian Language, English Language, Mathematics, Indonesian Literature, Cultural History/Anthropology, and Foreign Language (electives) .

Accordingly, subjects tested for VSS comprise Indonesian Language, English Language, Mathematics, and skill competency, whereas for Special SS there are four subjects tested, namely Indonesian Language, Mathematics, English Language, and Natural Science. Meanwhile for Special SSS, the subjects tested cover Indonesian Language, English Language, and Mathematics.***
