Indonesia Sending Performance Students to International Science Olympiad for Higher Education 2009

Indonesia will send again the performance student to Science Olympiad for higher education in 2009. A total of 14 students would participate in the 10th International Scientific Olympiad on Mathematics (ISOM) and 2nd International Scientific Olympiad on Chemistry (ISOC) in Teheran, Iran on 15th - 17th July, 2009, and 15th International Mathematics Competition (IMC) in Budapest, Hungary on 25th - 30th July 2009.


The team that will compete on behalf of the nation is accepted on Mon (13th, July,2009) by Director General of Higher Education, MoNE, Fasli Jalal at DIKTI Building, MoNE, Jakarta.

In the IMC arena, Indonesia sent 4 students. They area Albert Gunawan of Gajah Mada University, Yosafat EP Pangalelo of Technology Institute of Bandung , Rudi Adha Prihandoko of Technology Institute of Bandung, and Harun Immanuel of The Airlangga University. The team is targeted to attain the second prize.

Meanwhile at ISOM in Iran, Indonesia will send five students, those are Muhammad Arzaki of Technology Institute of Bandung, Ahmad Agung Ahkam of Technology Institute of Bandung , Novi Murniati of the University of Indonesia, and Ricky Aditya of the Gadjah Mada University.

Accordingly, at 2nd ISOC that is the first time participation, Indonesia will send five students, Muh. Zulqarnaen, R. Aditya Wibawa, Habiburrachman, Tegar Nurwahyu Wijaya , all of Technology Institute of Bandung, and Muh. Idham DM of Gadjah Mada University.

Fasli expects, that student will win the competition in that most prestigious arena. "To win is important, but not everything. The most important thing is to get experience and to develop friendship with participants from various countries," he said.***
