SETTING-BASED IMAGINATIVE INSTRUCTION

Teaching-learning processes have often counted highly on textbooks as the main resources, even though the environment actually may also serve as a significant resource in which all senses are totally and integratedly involved. As a matter of fact, textbooks are only a transferring medium of messages to be learnt; there are a lot more sources in the surroundings that can be used to improve the process. The resources that students can use either in separated or integrative manner include messages, people, materials, devices, techniques, and settings. Due to the wide range of resources, the writer focuses on those developed through the environment; there are many things textbooks cannot cope with while the setting or the culture can
This is certainly quite a challenge for teachers to utilize those learning resources available in their surroundings so that they can help students accelerate their understanding of what has just been learnt. Such use of setting should be set up for imaginative instructions in order that students can improve their achievement. Imaginative instruction is a way of helping the students to make use of their imagination power to learn. In addition, imagination also is very functional in determining the right path of science and technology advancement, and hence it can be positioned higher than the science and technology. Even, imagination can deal with human powerlessness through various concepts and viewpoints that ultimately provide an alternative way for human beings to decide on a certain action. What is being questioned is “how can setting be used for imaginative instruction?”
